Carloman was King of the West Franks jointly with his brother Louis III from AD 879 to 982, than as sole King from 982 to 884 when it was killed in a hunting accident.  All coins of this King are rare.

Denomination : Silver denier.  Mint : Limoges

Date : ca. AD 879 to 884.

Size : 21.5 x 21.8 mm.  Weight : 1.54 grams.

Reference : Dep-509 (15).  MEC vol 1 - not listed (they this only one specimen of this King but for Subsantion mint as #968).

Grade : gVF

Obverse : Small cross CARLOMAN REX around.

ReverseKSLM monogram, with LIMOVX CIVIS around.

The only recent price realized I have for one of these is on a recent ALDE sale where an inferior specimen of this type sold for 1700 euro plus the 20% buyers premium = 2040 euros ($2845 US).
