Andronicus III Palaeologus.  Coins of this Emperor are fairly scarce.

Denomination : Bronze Assarion. Mint : Constantinople.

Reference : Sear-2481.

Size : 19.6 x 22.0 mm.  Weight : 1.99 grams.

Grade :  gF (and fairly nice for the type).

Obverse : Cross Fleury.

Reverse : Andronicus III standing forward, holding a sceptre, with a fragmentary Greek inscription around (the inscriptions on these are almost never more than fragmentary).

What one can see of the reverse inscription is AVT to the right, which is almost certainly the beginning of AVTOKRATOR.  On the left is an N, which is the ending of ANDRON.
