Denomination : Silver denier.  Mint : Bordeux in Aquitaine.

Date : Richard I was duke of Aquitaine from AD 1172 to 1189, but this issue was probably between AD 1172 and 1174.

Reference  : Elias-4 rare variety.

Size : 17.3 x 18.4 mm.  Weight : 1.02 grams.

Grade : gVF, with Richards name very clear.

Obverse : RICA RDVS in two lines with a cross above and an w below.  The V is actually an inverted A which Elias specifically comments on as being a rare variety.

Reverse : Cross pattee with AQVITANIE around.
