Denomination : Silver denier. Mint : Bordeaux in Aquitaine.

Date : Richard I was duke of Aquitaine from AD 1172 to 1189, but this issue was probably between AD 1172 and 1174.

Reference  : Elias-4.

Size : 17.3 x 18.2 mm. Weight : 0.89 grams.

Grade :  VG/gF with a slighty wavy flan and some weakness.  Grey toning.

Obverse : RICA RDVS in two lines with a cross above and an w below.

Reverse : Cross pattee with AQVITANIE around.

This is not a particularly nice example, but an inexpensive example of one of the few types that Richard put his name on.
