A superb coin, illustrated in the 1939 study of 'The Coinage of Damastion'.


A rare silver tetradrachm from the city of Damastion, circa 395 BC.


The obverse with the head of Apollo, shown with pursed lips, straight nose and wearing a laurel wreath over his tousled hair.


The reverse with a large ritual tripod with lion's feet. The inscription reading:


ΔAMAΣTINΩN


"Of Damastion"


The finest example in private hands.



Weight: 13.65 g.
