Mark Antony with M. Aemilius Lepidus AR quinarius, 43-42 BC, 1.84gm, 12.7mm.  Obv: Fulvia (3rd wife of Mark Antony) as winged Victory right; III•VIR• behind; R•P•C before.  Rev: Lion walking right; ANTON[I] above; IMP below; A to left; X[LI] to right (XLI = 41, M. Antony’s age at time of issue).  Crawford 489/6; RSC 3 (Fulvia); Sear CRI 126; Sydenham 1163.  gVF, scarce, pleasantly toned.

 

Although she appears here in the guise of Victory, Fulvia was the first non-mythological woman to appear on a Roman coin.
