A beautiful Byzantine Glass Roundel in light green glass. The image is of a Christian cross with Greek writing around. The piece measures 49mm (1-3/4"), weighs 16 gm and is in a protective frame.

AD 600- 1100

The �gold-glass� platelets or roundels were made of two layers of glass (the bottom layer four to five millimeters thick and the upper layer less than one millimeter thick) between which is very thin gold foil.
