Gordian III. AD 238-244. Æ Sestertius (35mm, 19.05 g.) Rome mint, struck, AD 239-240. Obv. Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust right. Rev. Virtus standing left, holding branch and spear; shield set on ground to left, VIRTVS AVG SC RIC IV 293 VF+ to almost good VF, Pleasant brown patina. Well centered on a broad flan with the full border of dots visible. A large handsome coin in-hand, that allows to appreciate the extension of the die. |
