1820 Portugal - Colégio dos Orfãos do Porto Commemorative Medal by J. de Souza Obverse: COLLEGIO DOS ORFAOS DO PORTO -- João IV de Portugal patron of the school, sitting, diploma in hand, leaning against the wheel of knowledge, owl of wisdom at his feet. // Reverse: FUNDACAO EM MDCLI -- City of Porto coat-of-arms surrounded by legend. Bronze, Uncirculated, 30.97 mm, 11.1 g, Edge: Smooth, no mint marks, Original contemporaneous strike circa early 19th century. Very scarce! Dark chocolate brown patina, probably as struck. Much nicer in hand than what was captured in the pictures.
