A group of four obscure French hard cover books dealing with French/Belgian archaeology and artifacts. All originally soft cover and privately hard bound for the library of Pierre Bastien, each with his book plate. 
 
1.  Jacques Soyer, Les Voies Antiques de L'Orleanais. (Civitas Aurelanorum). Bulletin de la Societe Archeologique et Historique de l'Orleanais. 1971. Hard cover, 8vo, xiii, 184 pp. with numerous hand drawn maps illustrating the various passages, roads and limits of the various Roman towns and villages within the former French province of Orleanais, the country around Orleans which lay on both banks of the Loire river. French Text and most interesting.  
 
2. Pierre Nimal, Naissance de Bapaume, Recherces sur les Origines et la Formation de la Ville. 1966. Bapaume. Hard cover, 8vo, 116 pp. with a 10 page summary. Numerous illustrations and 4 fold-out maps. Book deals with the history of the commune of Bapaume in France, from a Roman Camp to a Feudal Keep then a Medieval fortified town. French Text.
 
3. Musee de Mariemont, Belgium. Les Chefs-D'Oeuvre de la Rhenanie Romaine, Aug - Sept 1948. Hard cover,12vo,  55 pp. with 24 b&w plates and color frontispiece. 8" x 5 1/2". A nice little exhibition catalog with objects from the Roman through Carolingian periods including a pair of cool stone heads of Gordian III and Julia Soaemias!
 
4. Colloque International.  D'Archéologie Aérienne. 31 Aug - 3 Sept 1963. Bibliothéque Générale de L'École Pratique des Hautes Études: Paris, 1964. Hard cover, 305 pp. and well illustrated with b&w photographs. A volume containing various presentations on the topic of aerial archaeology and its methods and usefulness.
 
The first three books in great condition without any noticeable wear or damage, the last with minor wear. Each possesses a matching label on the spine. A good trio of books for any working archaeological research library.
