1975 Italy - Saint Bartholomew by Guerrino Mattia Monassi (signed: P. MONASSI) for the Franklin Mint. Obverse - depiction of St. Bartholomew (as depicted by Buonarroti Michelangelo on his 1509 fresco in the Sistine Chapel). Reverse: small bust of Michelangelo surrounded by inscription - ST BARTHOLOMEW - AT HIS RESURRECTION HE HOLDS THE SKIN FLAYED FROM HIS BODY AT MARTYRDOM. Proof (satin cameo finish) .925 Sterling Silver (approximately 1.4 ounces of silver), 45 mm, smooth lettered edge. From the Franklin Mint - Genius of Michelangelo Series (1975-76). Original light peripheral toning with just a couple of very minor scattered hairline scratches from cabinet storage. Small issue of 19,412.
