Obverse: IMP C P LIC VALERIANVS AVG. Radiate, draped and cuirassed bust of Valerian I right. Reverse: RESTITVT ORIENTIS. the Orient, turreted, standing right, presenting wreath to the emperor, standing facing, head left, holding scepter. Excellent specimen of this interesting issue, proclaming to Valerian I as "restorer of the East". In EF condition, the coin conserves full details on both sides (including a superb bust of the emperor), very bold reliefs and good quality silver: richer than usual in these close-to-billon issues. Besides it is a heavy and large coin: 4,45 g - 23 mm. RIC 286. Samosata mint, AD 256-260. 4,45 g - 23 mm -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Visit our site about Numismatics and Archaeology: aeternitas-numismatics.com |
