Draped bust of Khusru II right wearing an elaborate winged mural crown with frontal crescent, kolymbos in crescent on right shoulder, crescent on left shoulder, outer circle star and crescent at 9,3 and 6 o'clock Reverse.Fire altar with ribbons flanked with a star and crescent, attendant either side, mint signature to right and regnal year, outer circle star and crescent at 9, 12, 3 and 6 o'clock. Ref:Gobl type II/3. Good very fine, some flat areas in strike. Most Sasanian mint attributions are problematic, the mint signature WYHC is a major mint yet the location has not been firmly established. Many locations have been proposed Veh-az-Amid-Kavad, Fars, Veh-Ardaxsir, Southern Iraq, Media and Nishapur are among the candidates proposed. |
