Draped bust of Hormazd right wearing an elaborate mural crown with frontal crescent, kolymbos in crescent on right shoulder, crescent on left shoulder. Reverse.Fire altar with ribbons flanked with a star and crescent, attendant either side, mint signature to right and regnal year on left. Ref:Gobl type 1/1, Sellwood 56. Good very fine, obverse some flatness from strike. Most Sasanian mint attributions are problematic, Eran-xvarrah (susa), Khuzistan as the most likely mint for this issue. |
