Obverse: ANCVS below, diademed head of Ancus Marcius right; behind, lituus. Reverse: PHILIPPVS on left, equestrian statue right on arcade of five arches; within arches, AQVA MARC. Very nice exemplar of this scarce and interesting issue, representing to Ancus Marcius, the fourth king of Rome, in the obverse and the Acqua Marcia, one of the earlier acueducts of Rome, in the reverse. EF-/EF condition, conserving complete details in both sides, very bold reliefs and high quality silver. MUCH BETTER IN HAND THAN IN PHOTO (Really!) Crawford 425/1; Sydenham 919. Rome mint, 57 BC. 3,8 g - 18 mm -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Visit our site about Numismatics and Archaeology: aeternitas-numismatics.com |
