Kyrenica, Kyrene. Governor and later King Magas (282/75 – 250 BC). Æ 16 mm. 3.3 gm. Obv: Diademed head of Zeus-Ammon facing right. Rev: Palm tree with KY – PA across fields, silphium plant to lower left, pentagram to lower right. SNG Copenhagen 1258. Magas was the son of one of Alexander the Great’s officers, and later became the step-son of Ptolemy I when his widowed mother Berenice remarried.
