 | | France, Louis XIV, 1/2 Ecu aux palmes, 1694, Paris, Reformed, Silver, | | | Cuirassed bust of Louis XIV on the right., Round crowned shield of France between two palms., Reformed coin on a "demi écu aux 8 L", dated 1691 (Gadoury 184 and Clairand 33156). The iconography of the old flan can still be seen, notably the branches of the cross formed by four groups of two crowned and leaning Ls, cantoned with fleurs-de-lis on the obverse. The reverse is particularly well reformed, and the elements of the old flan are barely visible, although the date 1691 is still slightly visible at 12 o'clock on the reverse.
This demi-ecu aux palmes is in a very good state of preservation, with many details, notably Louis XIV's wig, and is well reformed. | | FEATURES |
