2.68gm, 16.9mm. Merv mint.
Crowned bust right / Anahit seated facing under
domed canopy,
holding wreath and scepter.
Carter –; Cribb SI 19, #16 (Bactrian
issues), Mitchiner ACW 1264, Gobl Kushan 1028.
Very fine, nice earthen green patina, flan cracked at 4 O'clock. Rare Portrait almost like Shapur III.
Note:
The Kushano-sasanians were sasanian princes ruling
the old kushan lands in Bactria, the Kabul valley and Gandhara, as
sasanian vasalls. Some periods these kushan-shahs were more or less
independent, like this ruler, Hormazd I Kushanshah, ruling about AD
295-325 (or 270-295 according to Cribb). Mint for this type might be the
Kabul valley.
