17th Century Token, London, Cateaton Street, I.W. at The Kings Arms Tavern, Farthing, undated, .W. over I*E both sides, beaded circles and legend surrounding with star at top both sides, *THE. KINGS. ARMES. TAVERN, rev. *IN. CATEATON. STREETE, weight 0.96g (Boyne 391; BW 487). Toned, some porosity both sides and flaws, a little ragged, almost fine with some better elements to legends. Cateaton Street was redeveloped in what is today the Gresham Street area of the City and originally ran from the north end of Ironmonger's Lane to the west end of St Lawrence Church. |
