Constantine I

 A.D. 319

19x20mm 2.8gm

IMP CONSTAN-TINVS AVG; high crested helmet, cuirassed, spear across r. shoulder, shield with horseman on left arm

VICTORIAE LAETAE PRINC PERP; two Victories stg., facing one another, together holding shield inscribed VOT PR on altar.

In ex. BSIS dot

RIC VII Siscia 61

The shield on this coin is decorated with a horseman leaping over a fallen enemy. On this coin the horseman is leaping to the left, while the usual depiction is to the right. If you collect this series, then you know that this is unusual; if you do not collect this series, this coin will probably be of little interest to you. This is the budget example, I have another more expensive (and better condition) example.
