The reverse of this coin displays a winged figure suggested by academics to be cupid. Cupid is the child of the love goddess Venus and the god of war, Jupiter. Cupid is often displayed as a thin youth with wings carrying a bow and arrow. Over time his image became more of a chubby young baby. Cupid displays powers to bring intense love and emotion to those that are struck by his arrow. One wonders what the significance of Cupid on a goat could have meant to this moneyer?
