zoom view
Location: Ionia, Erythrae. Obverse: Head of Hercules right wearing lion's skin headdress. Reverse: EPY and owl above bowcase and club; APELLAZ between. Mint & Date of Striking: Ionia, Erythrae Mint 387-300 BC. References: BMC 44-46, SNG Aulock -; RARE. Size/Denomination/Weight: 15mm, AR Silver Drachm, 3.19g. Numismatic Notes: A rare and interesting denomination. This drachm, which normally are stuck in fairly pure silver, is struck in relatively impure silver. This was called the Rhodian standard (if you find similar examples, you will notice that they are all deeply toned or appear corroded due to the impurities). This coin is rare and the toning is attractive in hand. From the KL collection, which was compiled in the 70's. It comes with his original 2x2 collection envelope with his attribution written on it. It will also come with my professional attribution in a ready to store 2x2 flip.
