Bopearachi-Pieper: Ancient Indian coins, 1998-137.  THIS COIN.
a very rare drachm with very beautiful soft toning.
a very interesting pedigree coin and extremely fine.

King Lysias ( ca. 120-110 BC) is known only from his coinage, which points to a close relation with
'his near-contemporary Antialcidas. It,s possible that King Lysias claimed descent from Demetrius I,
His Heracles reverse type is a direct quote from Demetrius 'coinage on the "pedigree" tetradrachms
issues by Agathocles. The very colorful obverse iconography portrays Lysias as conqueror of the
orient.
