Antiochus was called "Hooknose".  He maintained  good relations with
the Romans. He seems to have anticipated by his half-brother Antiochus
Cyzicenus. The two brothers repeatedly swapped control of antioch, killing
one another's wives in the bloody process.  by this time both sides were close to exhaustion. After 104 the agressions of the Hasmoneans Aristobulus and
Alexander Jannaeus constituted a new threat. Antichus Grypos died at the hand of his war minister Heraclion, probably about 96 BC.  He left five sons to continue the civil war, to the detriment of the kingdom .
