among the many innovations of  Antiochus was his promotion of the cult of Zeus. He displaced
Apollo from the reverse of tetradrachms struck at antioch and Ptolemais (Ake)., introducing the type
of an enthroned Zeus Nicephorus.
He called himself Theos epiphanes ( God  Manifest). Evidently antiochus already a God and already portrayed on bronze coinage with the rays of Helios, was now claiming to be an avatar of Zeus.
