17,22 g 2 (  278-261 ). Diademed head of Antiochos to right.

Apollo seated left on omphalos holding arrows in his right hand and resting his
left on bow; in exergue two monograms. CSE-. WSM 1297. SC 331. With a fine
portrait in high relief. Reverse struck slightly off center. Otherwise nearly
extremely fine.
  a scarce coin.

Ex. LHS numismatik. 95 lot 708. ( 26-10-2005).

The type of Apollo seated on his  omphalos reflects the continuing devotion
of the seleucid house to its patron God. Antiochos introduced the cult of
Apollo  to antioch proper, established games in his honor, and installed an omphalos at the Syrian capital to rival the one at Delphi. The god here
holds two arrows rather than one in a minor variation of the standard type
that is also found at Sardes.
Antiochos 1 died in  261 BC in a manner unrecorded by history.
