The mint signature ΠΑ is that of ΠΑ(ΦΟΣ) Paphos,Cyprus.Noreasonable explanation has been put forward why the mint of Alexandriaadopted the Paphian mint-signature.The two issues can easily beseperated by their distinct style. In the case of Ptolemy XII mintattribution presents no problem.When the Alexandrians elected forPtolemy XII as their king they also chose his brother to be king ofCypurs, known to history as Ptolemy of cyprus.So for the first timeduring the Ptolemaic period Cyprus had its own king and each struckcoinage for their domain.
