Reverse.ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ ΑΝΤΙΟΧΟΥ ΕΥΕΓΕΤΟΥ, Athena standing left holding Nike in outstretched right hand and spear in left; sheld at feet; letters Δ over A in outer left field, T inner left and A inner right.

good very fine, dark tone.

This series with a distinctive style and fabric is attributed by Spaer to an unknwon mint probably associated with the mint of Antioch. It has now been re-attrubuted  by C.Lorber and A.Houghton in Numismatic Chronicle as a posthumus issue of Antiochus VII struck in Cappadocia by Ariarathes VIII,  Ariarathes IX or Ariobarzanes I.The control letters are linked to drachmas of Ariarathes VIII dated years 1-2
( c.99-98),Ariarathes IX  dated years 1,2 and 4 ( c.99-98, and c.96 BC) and to drachmas of Ariobarzanes I dated 2-3,5-6(?) and 16 (c.94-93, c.90-91(?)and c.80 BC
