Comments: The Palladium was a miniature statue of Athena that was believed to have had protective powers. There are various traditions about its departure from Troy: the Argives believed Diomedes took it; others thought Odysseus had it; and, of course, the Romans believed Aeneas escaped with it and took it with him to Italy, ultimately to Rome where it became one of the talismans of the city.
