G&K read 'mèno'. If that is correct, a name must be intended, like Menogenes, Menodotos or Menodoros. On the other hand, Greek 'nomè' translates 'division', 'distribution'. The figure is identified by G&K as Hekate, but this goddess is not seen actually balancing the basket with her hands. Perhaps this figure is a 'kanephoros', a maiden carrying a basket of first fruits, associated with a city festival.
