Die Evangelische Kirche der Altpreußischen Union Zur Goldenen Hochzeit

G.P.H. -

Obverse translates to: 'Be happy in hope, patient in distress, hold on to prayer.'

The Prussian Union of Churches (known under multiple other names) was a major Protestant church body which emerged in 1817 from a series of decrees by Frederick William III of Prussia that united both Lutheran and Reformed denominations in Prussia.

The minting of these medals began on August 18, 1926. In the following years various foundries were commissioned to meet the demand of 5000 copies a year. These medals were produced in bronze until 1936. Zinc was used from 1937 onwards. The last 'golden wedding anniversay' ceremonies were held in 1943.
