Carausius (AD 286-293), billion Antoninianus, AD 287-293,
London mint. Obv. Radiate, draped and cuirassed bust facing right. Rev.
Pax standing, holding olive branch and vertical sceptre, S–P across
fields, MLXXI in exergue. 4.25g, die axis 6h (Sear 13640 var. (RCV IV);
RIC V. 98). A trifle off centre, otherwise a delightfully presented
coin, deeply toned with good facial detail, pleasing in hand. Extremely
fine.
