A beautifully preserved example of an ancient Roman silver denarius, minted under Emperor Maximinus I Thrax, (Gaius Julius Verus Maximinus Augustus). Struck 235 - 238 AD at the Rome mint.


The obverse with the draped bust of the powerfully built Emperor, facing right and wearing laurel wreath. The legend reading:


MAXIMINVS PIVS AVG[vstvs] GERM[anicvs]


"Emperor Maximinus, Dutiful Augustus, Conqueror of Germany"


The reverse with the goddess of trust, Fides. She is shown standing, facing left, holding a military standard in each hand. The legend reading:


FIDES MILITVM


"Faith in the Military"
