This set was issued by the Royal Mint in 2007 and comprises eight gold coins produced by the Mint in Pretoria in the 20th Century. They unite the first gold bullion coins issued under the Republic of South Africa with six gold coins struck under British dominance.
The George VI coins were the only coins bearing the head of George VI other than the Coronation year 1937 Proof sovereigns.
