#[505415] AULERCI EBUROVICES, 1/4 STATER, , GOLD, DELESTRÉE:MANQUE. |
|
Aulerci Eburovices, Area of Évreux, 1/4 Stater, Ist century BC, , Gold, Delestrée:manque. |
Celticized head of Apollo left, dotted bands with central zig-zag line on cheek |
Celticized biga galloping left; charioteer above; below, wolf standing right; in right field a star |
The Hemistater with wolf and dotted bands on cheek is very rare, but 1/4 Stater is extremely rare! Our example is not listed in Delestrée with this obverse. The only type which ressembles the most is N°2393 with a similar reverse but a different obverse (hair and decoration on cheek). An example of the same type has been sold in 2015 in auction 100 of Classical Numismatic Group (Lot 1624). The result was final and without appeal: 5500$ without fees! Our example is in a higher grade with more details and far less marks |
