An ancient Greco-Iranian kingdom in Anatolia ruled by a Hellenized branch of the Iranian Orontid dynasty. The kingdom was located in and around the ancient city of Samosata, which served as its capital. Ruled by Rome in 17-38 AD)

SUETONIUS - Tiberius started out quite positive and modest:

"He forbad temples, flamens, or priests to be appointed for him, as likewise the erection of any statues or pictures of him … and this he granted only on condition that they should not be placed amongst the images of the gods, but only amongst the ornaments of houses. He also ... prevented ... the month of September from being called Tiberius» (Tiberius VI)

But later:

«The place of execution is still shown at Capri, where he ordered those who were condemned to die, after long and exquisite tortures, to be thrown, before his eyes, from a high cliff into the sea.» (Tiberius VXII)
