This is the rare Madhyadesa type of portrait silver coins, issued by the Gupta emperors in the core imperial territory of modern-day Uttar Pradesh and Bihar.
 
A wonderful portrait struck on a full flan with complete legends on reverse. Rare and SUPERB.
 
A similar coin of Skandagupta's predecessor Kumaragupta sold for $770 at an Indian auction in 2014.
