Obverselegend in Farsi reads: "shood Aftab-o Maah zar-o sim dar jahan/az sekeeh emam beh-haqq Saheb-al Zaman" meaning, the moon and the sun became gold and silver/from the coins of the rightful 12th Imam.
Reversethe mint name "dar-al saltanah Tabriz" inside a square dated 1204 at the bottom of it inside a decorated cartouche. beaded circle around the flan.

CommentsThis large rial belongs to a rebel Kurdish ruler (Khan) named Ahmad khan Donboli who stood up against Agha Muhammad Khan Qajar and minted coins from 1204-1206 in Azerbaijan (Tabriz & Khoy).
