Denomination : Silver denarius.  Mint : Rome.

Date : issue of AD 73.

Size : 18.7 x 19.9 mm.  Weight : 3.03 grams.

Reference : RSC-158.  RIC-554.

Rarity : This type is listed as "R" (rare) in RIC and even then only in the new edition (It was not in the 1st edition).  There is only one example in coin archives (pro) and which shares the same obverse die (different reverse die).  I believe this is a very rare type, over looked because it closely resembled the common Vespasian issue of this reverse.  I think there is a strong possibility that rather than an intentional type it is a mule of a Titus obverse die with a Vespasian reverse dies.

Grade : VF/gF

Obverse : Head of Titus right, with TITVS CAES IMP VESP CENS around

Reverse : Vespasian or Titus seated right, with PONTIF MAXIM around.
