Denomination : Silver Kopek.  Mint : Moscow.

Date : issued in AD 1600.

Size : 10.1 x 13.2 mm.  Weight : 0.66 grams.  This is a fairly small coin.

Grade : gVF but with the horseman's head weak.  The mint mark is only partly on the flan.

Obverse : Czar riding right. thrusting a spear, with an O over M Moscow mint mark below, and a small O between the rider and the horse head. I am not certain of the meaning of the small O by the heads, but all coins with this are dated to 1600.

Reverse : Cyrillic inscription that translates to "TSAR AND PRINCE GRAND BORIS THEDOROVICH OF ALL RUSSIA".  Only about 2/3 of the inscription is present, but full inscription examples would be very rare and this is pretty typical of how these come.

These small coins are commonly known as wire money as they were struck on flans cut from lengths of wire.  All have shear marks at the ends, resulting from how the wire was cut.  The flans are generally smaller than the dies, so only very rarely will very well centered specimens with everything on the flan be encountered (never for some issues).
