zoom view

Denomination : Bronze teruncius.

Mint : Luceria in Apulia (which was a Roman city after 314 BC, so we have listed this coin under the Republic rather than as a Greek coin).

Reference : Thurlow-Vecchi #283.  Haeberlin plate 71, 21-23.  HN Italy 667c

Size : 26.0 x 28.3 mm.  Weight : 23.37 grams.

Grade : gVF/VF with a slightly glossy brown patina, and minor encrustation.

Obverse : Eight pointed star with a dot in the middle.

Reverse : A dolphin with three dots above (denomination mark for 1/4 Aes), and an "L" below.  On this specimen the dots and "L" are weak.

These are crudely cast coins, and this specimen is a reasonably nice example of the issue.
