Denomination : Silver obol.

Reference : Sear Greek - 3848 to 50 variety. SNG Paris 278.  SNG Von A 7333.

Size : 10.0 x 13.5 mm. Weight : 0.86 grams.  This is a fairly small coin.

Grade : XF with a full strike for the issue, and very good metal.

Obverse : Forepart of a running boar left, with an upright tunny fish behind.  There is a retrograde "E" on the boar's shoulder.

Reverse : Head of a roaring lion left.

A specimen of no better quality (with only part of the tunny fish on the flan) struck from the reverse die, was sold on the April 29, 2008 LSH auction #102, lot #257 for the equivalent of $872.00 + the buyers premium making the total about $1000 US.  I feel that price was too high for the type, so I have listed this one here are a far more attractive price.

Provenance : ex Darcy Phalen collection.
