This coin is ancient, but no struck at an official mint.  It is a contemporary counterfeit of a Herod the Great AE 18 with the obverse of a diadem containing a cross.

Denomination : The official coin of this type is an AE 18, but this one is smaller.

Reference : Sear - Greek Imperial Coinage #5527 for the prototype.

Size : 12.4 x 14.3 mm. Weight : 1.68 grams.

Grade : VG to Fine, but the reverse is very off-centre.

Obverse : Diadem with a barbarous inscription around, although you can make out the BAC of BACILEWC..

Reverse : Tripod with curved legs, but this coin is so far off center that all you can see is one of the legs. The prototype coin would have had a palm branch to either side of the tripod, but it appears this counterfeiter did not put the on the die.
