Glass weights of this general form were used for centuries in various Islamic regions, to weight many types of objects from coins to spices. In many cases, such as with this weight, we have no way of knowing what it's intended use was although if anyone can translate the inscription on it, it may give a clue. But the very light weight of only 0.79 grams suggests it might have been used for something like gold.
