zoom view

Denomination : Silver tetrobol.

Reference : Sear Greek - 2496 variety

Size : 12.5 x 14.0 mm.  Weight : 2.43 grams.

Grade : aVF but struck on a flan smaller than the dies.  The coin is a little nicer in the hand than the image suggest, but is over all slighlty soft looking and has probably been slightly over cleaned.

Obverse : Head of the nymph Histiaia right.

Reverse : The nymph Histiaia seated right on the stern of a galley, holding a naval standard, with ISTIAIEWN around starting at 5 o'clock, with a small wing on the side of the galley (only half of the inscriptions and the tip of the wing are visible due to the small flan relative to the die size).
