Denomination : Silver Groat. Mint : London.

Date : 4th coinage, pre-treaty issue (1351 to 1361) using initial mark cross 3 (4) used in AD 1356 to 1361.

Reference  : Spink-1570 variety.  Cross 3 (4) was used on class G at London, which is how we have classified this specimen, but the annulets usually present on one quadrant of the reverse, and sometimes below the bust, are not present.

Size : 26.9 x 27.6 mm. Weight : 4.43 grams.

Grade : VF, nicely toned, with a nice strike and well centered.

Obverse : Head of Edward III forward, with EDWAR D G ANGL Z FRANC D HYB around.

Reverse : Long cross with two circles of inscriptions.  The inner circle reads CIVITAS LONDON.  The outer circle reads POSVI DEVM ADIVTORE MEV (meaning I HAVE MADE GOD MY HELPER).
