This coin imitates the silver dirhems of the Ayyubid caliph Al-Salih Isma'il, of the Damascus mint.

Denomination : Silver dirhem.

Mint and Date : This coin is marked for the "Dimashq" mint although it only imitates and it is not certain at which crusader mint it was struck.  The date on the coin is blundered to the point it cannot be read (according to Steve Album who's original tag will be included) which is one of the things had shows this to be a Crusader imitation rather than an offical Ayyubid issue.  The best evidence, as discussed in CCS, is that these were struck in the period between AD 1243 and 1250.

Reference : CCS page 134 and 138, #3 to 8 variety.  The prototype coin was Album - 849.1.

Size : 19.3 x 22.3 mm.  Weight : 2.92 grams.

Grade : VF.

Obverse and Reverse : Arabic inscriptions naming caliph Al-Salih Isma'il.
