Date : This is a variation the most common type of Wu Shu, first cast sometime around 100 BC, but this variety has a upper rim on the inside of the hole on the obverse, which is a variety normally dated to the reign of Emperor Hsuan, ca. 73 to 49 BC.

The dating of this type to Emperor Hsuan is based on molds for this type that have been found and were dated to that period.
