Heraclius with Heraclius Constantine and Queen Martina.

Denomination : Bronze Follis. Mint : Cyprus (Constantia), 3rd officina.

Date : year-17 (AD 626/627)

Reference : Sear-849.

Size : 19.3 x 27.5 mm.   Weight : 5.42 grams.

Grade :  Fine.

Obverse : Facing figures of Heraclius and his son Heraclius Constantine, and his Queen Martina.

Reverse : A large denomination mark 'M' flanked by ANNO (year) on the left and the Byzantine symbols for year-17 on the right, with the officina mark "gamma" between the legs of the M.

The mint mark is off the flan at the bottom, but this combination of the three figures with no obverse inscription, year 17 with the officina mark "gamma", and the diamond for an A in ANNO, can onl be Sear-849 from Cyprus.      This is a relatively rare issue but is inexpensive because of the mint mark being off the flan.
