Small test punch in Athena's cheek
A truly gorgeous example of this type. This one also has a rare feature - a clear Pupil in the eye! It must also be an early example. As time went on, and output of this type increased, the flans became quite oblong, the incuse square completely disappeared and the striking became quite careless.
Obv: Bust of Athena wearing a crested helmet right - eye in profile - WITH PUPIL! (as opposed to the almond shaped eyes of earlier issues.
Rev: Owl standing right with head facing "AQE" to right, olive sprig and crescent behind, all within an incuse square
